Russia calls out Japan for providing air defense system to Ukraine

RUSSIA called out Japan for its decision of Japanese-made patriot missiles to Ukraine noting that such a move could lead to the deterioration of bilateral ties between the two countries.

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova warned that such actions will be viewed as hostile toward Russia and will lead to more deaths of innocent lives – a burden that Tokyo will also be held accountable.

The patriot surface-to-air missile system is considered one of the most advanced ground-based air defense systems being used by the US Army.

The air defense system can shoot down incoming aircraft or missiles before they hit their intended targets and served as a protective blanket for American troops in the past 30 years.

Japan’s tense relations with Russia centered on territorial disputes are at risk of deteriorating further due to the planned deployment of patriot missiles to Ukraine.

Japan was also one of the US allies that imposed sanctions against Russia.

In a recent interview, Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the failures of the US Foreign policy resulted in the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

He also blamed the US for provoking global tensions worldwide and warned that no country in the world will be spared from its manipulations in 2024.
