Russia Warns U.S. of retaliation over journalist visa blocks

RUSSIA warned the US that it will respond to journalist visa blocks following the impediments placed on media people.

A retaliation to remember, this is what the Russian Federation has vowed after the United States failed to grant visas to accredited journalists from the media pool traveling with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

Washington’s failure to grant such visas was announced by Russia on Sunday, and Lavrov and his delegation are scheduled to attend the U.N. Security Council meetings in New York City next week.

Reports citing Russian media outlets also said that the United States allegedly delayed granting permission for the arrival of Lavrov’s plane.

And last week, the Russian ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, said the pool journalists traveling with Lavrov were supposed to have a visa appointment on March 31; however, such meetings were canceled.

Lavrov criticized Washington’s move as an ugly behavior, stupid, and exposing the true worth of the United States oath about protecting freedom of speech.

He also told the United States to, quote-unquote, put more effort into bringing truth to the world community.

And now, Lavrov said, Russia is compelled to respond to America’s hostile move.

Meanwhile, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said Washington had been pretending until the very last move that it was trying to sort out the visa issue of Russian media people.

Lavrov is set to preside in two UN Security Council meetings this week. He is scheduled to meet with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and to hold bilateral meetings in New York.

It can be noted that Russia is also the current rotating presidency of the UN Security Council on April 1st.
