SAUDI Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud met with his Palestinian counterpart President Mahmoud Abbas to discuss the latest developments in Palestine.
With talks held in Jeddah, the two Arab leaders also talked about ways to strengthen Saudi-Palestinian relations and the need to establish an independent Palestinian state in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant international resolutions. During the meeting, Abbas praised “Saudi Arabia and its role in supporting the Palestinian cause.” Other high-ranking Saudi officials were also present during the talks.
Endorsed by the Arab League in 2022, the Arab Peace Initiative envisions the end of the conflict between Israel-Palestine with an assumption that: “A military solution to the conflict will not achieve peace or provide security for the parties.”
Saudi Arabia and Palestine have enjoyed solid and strong relations for many years, with the Kingdom supporting Palestinian refugees with millions of dollars in funding through the United Nations, as well as donating funds for those living in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
Saudi Arabia believes in the importance of the Palestinian cause and supports the establishment of a Palestinian state on the basis of pre-1967 borders, with Esat Jerusalem as its capital.
