TO prevent a possible war in the West Philippine Sea (WPS), a coalition will be launched this week, composed of various sectors in the Philippines.
In an interview on Pulso ng Bayan on SMNI, Adolfo Paglinawan, a former press attache and political analyst, this is an effective way to voice their pressing concerns to the Marcos Jr. administration.
“And now, this has evolved into a nationwide coalition of citizens against war. No to U.S.-BBM Proxy War,” said Adolfo Paglinawan, Former Press Attache and Political Analyst.
The group opposes the further proliferation of Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement or EDCA bases in the country, which are seen as instruments of American warfare.
Especially concerning is the strategic placement of these bases near Taiwan—close to areas in the North where the majority of EDCA sites are located.
“Because of the continuous gunpowder mindset in our society where the people see no enemy, it seems like this is where the President’s attention is focused. In the face of widespread poverty,” Paglinawan added.
Paglinawan emphasized that former senators are part of this movement.
“We have our honorable former Senators Nikki Coseteng, and Francisco Tatad,” he said.
The Coalition against War is set to launch on April 24, Wednesday, at the Quezon City Sports Club,
“Countrymen, we will disseminate this manifesto, and if you are against war and pro-peace, if you stand for peace, not turmoil—sign it because we will spread it to the public so you’ll know what our government is really doing. We are nearing danger,” he stated.
