SENATOR Cynthia Villar emphasized the urgent need for a more efficient waste management especially during rainy season when flooding is a familiar scene.
“The flooding in Las Piñas City, caused by typhoons, prompted me to address the solid waste disposal challenges more aggressively. I discovered that waterlilies and an abundance of solid waste littering our two rivers, the Zapote River and the Las Pinas River, contributed to the flooding problem… To encourage many to remove the solid wastes from our rivers, I had to create livelihood programs out of the garbage,” according to Sen. Cynthia Villar.
