Sen. Dela Rosa willing to risk political career in Senate inquiry into PDEA leaks

SENATOR Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa is not only willing to sacrifice his political career but also his life for the sake of truth.

This is what senator said in an interview regarding the controversial pre-operation report from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) implicating PBBM in illegal drugs.

“I’m willing to stake my career, my political “career, my honor, and my life for the sake of truth. I don’t care what happens to me. You can say I won’t win the election because I’m not siding with those who have agendas in this investigation. I don’t care, Eric. What matters to me is I will stick with the truth regardless of the outcome. I’m willing to sacrifice everything just for the truth,” according to Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, Chairperson, Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs.

On Tuesday, the Senate Committee on Dangerous Drugs conducted a hearing on the controversial PDEA leaks and the 1.2 tons of illegal drugs seized in Batangas.

Although some were disappointed with the results of the hearing, Bato continues to insist on a fair hearing to achieve the truth.

The senator emphasized that he can never be bought because he will never trade his honor for money.

Bato also pointed out that the aim of the said hearing is to craft laws that address the leakage of confidential documents.

“The hearing I’m conducting is an investigation in aid of legislation, not an investigation in aid of persecution. We don’t have an objective to persecute any individuals suspected of drug use.”

“The objective of my hearing is not to please them. My objective here is to uncover the truth, whether they are happy about it or not, I don’t care. What matters to me is the outcome of the truth. I am not here to satisfy the lust for blood or to persecute anyone,” Dela Rosa stated.

The senator also promised to remain fair and uninfluenced in the hearing regarding the leaked PDEA documents in order to achieve the truth.

“I swear to God, I swear to my family, I swear to my Alma Mater, the Philippine Military Academy, and I swear to the Senate that I will uphold the doctrine of the separation of powers. I will defend our status as a co-equal branch of government that cannot be dictated by any other branch of government.”

“Rest assured, we will not be intimidated, we will not be influenced, and you can also expect fairness in our conduct of the hearing,” he said.

Expect further hearings until the source of the leaked confidential documents is identified.
