DEPARTMENT of Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco was among the tourism ministers and representatives from ASEAN member states and guest countries worldwide present at the opening ceremony of the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2025 in Johor Bahru, Malaysia on Saturday (Jan. 18).

Headlined by ministers and heads of National Tourism Organizations (NTO) from countries including Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos, Brunei, Thailand, Myanmar, the Philippines, Cambodia, Singapore, and Malaysia, as well as representatives from China, Japan, South Korea, India, and Russia, the forum features meetings, a TRAVEX trade show, and various conferences focused on key themes such as sustainable tourism and digital transformation.

For the next two days, Secretary Frasco is set to attend high-level meetings in the forum that aims to tackle current challenges while harnessing the collective strengths and shared objectives of its member states to pave the way for a prosperous future.

With this year’s theme “UNITY IN MOTION: SHAPING ASEAN’S TOURISM TOMORROW,” the ATF 2025 is poised to create a resilient and sustainable ASEAN tourism industry.

The ATF is an annual event that promotes Southeast Asia as a unified travel destination. It serves as a platform for tourism ministers, government officials, corporations, and media representatives from the ten ASEAN nations to collaborate.
