AS the Philippines and Mexico mark the 75th anniversary of their relationship, South Korean Ambassador-designate Lee Sang-Hwa said that South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol has set to visit the Philippines this year or early 2024.
Ambassador Lee made the statement during the presentation of his credentials to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in Malacañang on Monday.
In response, President Marcos said he looks forward to meeting the South Korean leader during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in November.
Ambassador Lee also told President Marcos that South Korean National Assembly Speaker Kin Jin-Pyo and the South Korean Foreign Minister will visit the Philippines this year to meet their counterparts to further bolster relations.
The ambassador also discussed regional developments such as the ASEAN alliances taking a more dominant role in terms of security and defense.
Mexico, PH agree to strengthen cooperation on trade, culture
Mexico and the Philippines have agreed to increase cooperation on trade and culture as the two nations celebrate 70 years of relations.
Mexico’s Ambassador-designate Daniel Hernandez Joseph stated it while presenting his credentials to President Marcos Jr.
The Chief Executive also expressed to Mexico for taking care of Filipinos, stressing there is a strong Filipino community in the said country, which is now very much part of Mexican society.
Ambassador Hernandez Joseph then reported that Mexico’s national university made an offering this year in the area of Filipino studies.
Based on the February 2023 data, there are 1,206 Filipinos in Mexico, who are mainly craft and trade-related workers, technicians and associate professionals, and other industry professionals.
