Sweden, Norway among South Korea’s target markets for rocket artillery sales

SOUTH Korea’s Hanwha Aerospace sees an opportunity in Europe by selling weaponry to Sweden and Norway.

The defense company sees the two Nordic countries as a target market to introduce the K239 Chunmoo rocket artillery system.

Developed in 2013, the self-propelled multiple launcher is said to be at par with the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) developed for the United States Army.

Hanwha promoted short delivery time and price for the rocket artillery system as its edge over its competitors.

The South Korean defense company said it can deliver a battalion-sized batch of 16 to 18 Chunmoo launchers per country by 2030.

European countries taking interest in South Korea’s long-range rocket system prompted the East Asian country to take a chance in the region by displaying its multiple rocket launch system for the first time.
