THAILAND‘s criminal court sentenced a former businessman to 1,155 years in prison for luring many victims in an investment scam.
A former businessman identified as Prasit Jeowkok was found guilty of public fraud and computer crime which earned more than a century of jail time.
The court found out that the 52-year-old businessman and two other defendants lured many people online to invest in several businesses between 2020 to 2021.
The businesses include tour packages, a cooperative, and renting out luxury goods.
The defendants promised investors of high returns but were never paid.
The scammers were found to have committed 321 offenses which equate to a 1,155-year-long sentence.
The former businessman was also ordered to make a payment of one billion baht in compensation to his victims.
