Maya Bay has proven that its renowned beauty and global fame never faltered despite being closed for three years for massive rehabilitation
The famous bay has seen a post-pandemic boom in both rates of tourists and significant ecosystem recovery since it made a grand comeback in 2022.
Before its temporary closure, Maya Bay welcomed as many as 6,000 tourists every day, leaving behind plastic litter, polluted waters, sand erosion, disturbed vegetation, and wildlife.

It became instantly famous after it was used as a backdrop in the movie The Beach, starring Hollywood actor Leonardo Di Caprio in 2000.
It was recently named the 5th-best beach in the world for 2024 by Beach Atlas, a website based in the United Kingdom.
Maya Bay was also voted the world’s the world’s third-best beach by the Lonely Planet travel guide for its January 2024 edition.
