THE real estate sector in Thailand is booming as Russian tourists arrive in the country in droves.
Many Russians chose to invest in Thailand’s real estate sector after an extended holiday in the country.
More than 370,000 Russian tourists have arrived in the country since January according to the Bureau of Immigration (BOI).
The figure is a significant increase compared to about 435,000 Russians that visited the country in 2022.
Thai authorities assured that no Russian criminals have sneaked into the country while most legal issues concerning Russian citizens are minor offenses.
Phuket, Koh Samui, and Pattaya are the hotspots most popular among Russian visitors.
The Bureau of Immigration said that the ongoing war is not the only reason Russians flock to Thailand but the rich ones are investing in condominiums, buying pool villas, cars, and motorcycles, or renting houses near beaches as they escape the cold weather in the Northern Hemisphere.
Authorities said the large number of Russian tourists spending money in Thailand helped boost the local economy.
