The journey of Denver Biang into agriculture

INSPIRED by many farmers in the community whose lives improved because of farming, Denver Biang of La Trinidad, Benguet ventured into agriculture at a young age.

At 25, Denver owns and manages SayMayat Farming, a 2,000-square meter farm located in Bineng, La Trinidad that is focused on the production of lettuce seedlings and other highland vegetables.

Recognizing that seedling production is challenging and time-consuming for many farmers, Denver shared his agri-enterprise primarily aims to help farmers by providing them high-quality seedlings that they can plant when they want. He said that with readily available seedlings, SayMayat can help other farmers be more efficient and earn additional income while waiting to harvest their other crops.

He has come a long way since he started seedling production in 2020 during the pandemic with P24,000 capital and won the Department of Agriculture’s (DA’s) Young Farmers’ Challenge (YFC) provincial level competition in 2021 with a cash grant of P50,000.
