The Philippine government does not support the idea of mass testing for #COVID19 – Rep. Nograles

Rep. PBA Party-list Rep. Koko Nograles says the Philippine government does not support the idea of mass testing for #COVID19.

In an interview with Nograles in the Usaping Bayan program, he stated that rapid testing may not give accurate results just like the rejected test kits in Spain that have 40% accuracy only.

According to Rep. Nograles, there are 3 types of COVID-19 tests: PCR (polymerase chain reaction)-based, antigen, and antibody.

Only the PCR-based test was approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) while the other 2 tests are not approved even by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

He said that PCR testing only lasts between 40-50 minutes but because we lack the needed machines, the test would take even a year before we get the results.

Kasi kung kaya natin i-mass testing under the PCR method, then YES, LET’S DO THAT! So bakit hindi pa tayo nagma-mass test nitong PCR method?

The lawmaker added that it is also alarming to know that among the ASEAN nations, only the Philippines and Indonesia have larger cases of #COVID19 deaths than recoveries.

The Philippine government does not support the idea of mass testing for #COVID19 – Rep. Nograles"Meron pong tatlong klase ng COVID-19 test: PCR-based, antigen at antibody.
