FORMER Presidential Spokesperson Ernie Abella criticized the idea of surrendering a citizen to the International Criminal Court (ICC), calling it an “open admission” that the country’s justice system is incapable. He warned that such a move would send a negative signal about the nation’s independence and governance, potentially undermining investor confidence.
“To surrender a citizen to the ICC is an open admission that our own justice system is incapable—this does not bode well for the nation. It sends a negative signal that it is incapable, dependent, has little control over its own system, and it weakens investor confidence,” according to Ernie Abella, Former Presidential Spokesperson.
