Top Houthi official promises to spare Chinese, Russian ships from Red Sea attacks

SENIOR Houthi official Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti insisted the waters around Yemen were safe as long as the commercial vessels passing through were not linked to certain countries, particularly Israel.

Shipping activities by Chinese and Russian vessels in the region will not be threatened, as promised by a senior Houthi official.

Vessels from Russia and China passing through the Red Sea are among those nations that were guaranteed safe passage.

However, he warned that attacks on vessels connected with Israel would continue.

According to Bukhaiti, the goal is to raise the economic costs for Israel to stop the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

He added the attacks on merchant vessels would only cease when Israel stops all military operations in the besieged enclave.

The senior Houthi official called on the United States and United Kingdom to stop its aggression against Yemen and to stop supporting the war in the Gaza Strip in exchange for ending the attacks launched by the Iran-backed group in the Red Sea.

Some Houthi officials warned that American and British ships are now considered legitimate targets amid a recent exchange of strikes with the US and UK forces in the Red Sea.
