Tourism Secretary Frasco supports DATA’s Sustainable Tourism Roadmap

TOURISM Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco committed to supporting the Davao Tourism Association’s (DATA) efforts in creating a Sustainable Tourism Roadmap to mark their 50th anniversary.

“I’m pleased to continue our commitment to you with the Department of Tourism Regional Office collaborating closely with DATA on this endeavor, providing technical support to ensure the successful implementation of this roadmap,” she announced during DATA’s anniversary celebration on Monday (August 12) at Dusit Thani Davao.

The Sustainable Tourism Roadmap is designed for the next five years, outlining DATA’s initiatives to implement impactful sustainable practices across various tourism sectors in Davao City.

This project, developed by DATA members with the support of the DOT Davao Regional Office, aims to inspire and encourage the rest of the region and the country to share in this responsibility.

These efforts reflect a shared dedication not only to sustaining the momentum of the tourism sector’s success but also to ensuring that tourism development in the Philippines remains sustainable for future generations.

“We have to recognize that our success in the past has always been because of the active collaboration between the private and public sectors, and tonight’s celebration is a perfect example of that. As we endeavor to elevate our industry, it’s imperative that we champion sustainability and, even more, that we strive to be regenerative in our travel and business choices,” said DATA President Nicole Hao Bian Ledesma, echoing the Tourism Chief’s sentiments.

“We gather to honor the legacy of this esteemed association, to celebrate its remarkable resilience and its many accomplishments. We look forward to a future that embraces sustainable tourism development that continues to create livelihoods for millions of Filipinos,” Secretary Frasco emphasized.
