SOUTH Korea warned to retaliate after North Korea sent dozens of balloons that contained rubbish and filth in its border.
The trash balloons were sent shortly after North Korea warned of “tit-for-tat action” against anti-Pyongyang leaflets flown by activists from South Korea.
The balloons have crossed the border and fell in various locations across South Korea since Tuesday night and created a mess as it fell to the ground.
It contained pieces of trash such as plastic bottles, batteries, shoe parts, and even excrement, according to the South Korean military.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff urged North Korea to stop its inhumane and vulgar act which it called a violation of international law and a serious threat to South Korea.
The incident happened days after Seoul hosted a trilateral summit attended by Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
Local officials asked residents from affected areas not to touch the objects and report them immediately to nearby military or police authorities.
