TROPICAL depression Ambo retains its strength and has hardly moved the Philippine Sea in past hours.
Pagasa has last seen the center of the typhoon in 285 km east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte.
It still carries maximum winds of up to 55 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 70 kilometers per hour.
Tropical depression Ambo is expected to intensify and become a tropical storm overnight.
Consequently, it is possible to raise the tropical cyclone wind Signal No. 1 in some parts of Eastern Visayas today due to the expected strong winds caused by Ambo.
Tomorrow, Pagasa expects the storm to be about 280 kilometers east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar.
When Ambo becomes a tropical storm, it is possible to develop into a severe tropical storm before it hits the ground.
The storm is expected to land in Sorsogon or Albay between Thursday and Friday.
Meanwhile, Visayas and Mindanao will experience cloudy winds and thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening due to the trough of Typhoon Ambo.
