THE Russian Defense Ministry on Tuesday claimed that they delivered a strike using their ‘Kinzhal’ hypersonic missile, effectively destroying a United States-made Patriot air defense system in Kyiv over the past day.
Kinzhal is the latest Russian weapons system with hypersonic aero-ballistic missiles carried by M.I.G.-31K fighters-interceptors of Russia.
Ukraine reported that it had withstood a massive attack by Russia on Monday night, and claimed to have intercepted 6 Kinzhal missiles.
But on Tuesday, the Russian Defense Ministry said it had to use long-range precision weapons to hit its military targets, and this includes Ukrainian troops’ positions and places of storage munitions, weapons, and military hardware delivered by the West.
It can be remembered that the Ukrainian government previously claimed that Kinzhal missiles had been intercepted by Patriot missiles.
And on May 9, the U.S. Defense Department claimed that Ukraine had shown down Russia’s Kinzhal using a Patriot Air Defense System they delivered to Ukraine.
But later on, Russian State media reports citing the defense ministry said that Ukraine was only engaged in ‘wishful thinking’ over its claims of intercepting their Kinzhals, saying that their missiles were invulnerable to America’s Patriot Air Defense Systems.
Situation in Bakhmut remains tense—Pushilin
Meanwhile, in Bakhmut, the acting head of the Ukrainian Separatist, the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Denis Pushilin, on Tuesday said that the situation in the city remains tense.
Still, there are fewer high-rise areas controlled by Ukrainian units.
He also said that Russian Forces are advancing despite all difficulties.
It can be remembered that on Monday, Pushilin said that Russian Forces had occupied key skyscrapers in Bakhmut.
And they have seen the activation of Ukrainian troops along the frontline.
However, such a move is not yet part of Kyiv’s counteroffensive, and the situation is still under Russian control.
“We see the activation of Ukrainian troops along the entire front line, but this is not yet a counteroffensive. In general, the situation is under control,” said Denis Pushilin, Acting Head of DPR.
