AS a response to the fear brought to the United States by the strengthening military cooperation between North Korea and Russia, US continue to place sanctions on both countries.
US Department of State spokesperson Matthew Miller calls on Pyongyang to stop building illegal weapons and just resolve to conversations instead.
According to US Department of States spokesperson, Matthew Miller, Washington have already made their concerns clear about the Moscow-Pyongyang alliance.
“Obviously, we have seen close cooperation between Russia and North Korea.”
“We have made clear our concerns about cooperation between Russia and North Korea. We have made clear our concerns about North Korea seeking to assist Russia in its aggression in Ukraine, and we will continue to make those concerns clear and we will continue to enforce all of our sanctions,”
Matthew Miller, spokesperson, US Department of States, said.
This statement was released after Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu attended North Korea’s victory parade in Pyongyang in late July.
Miller also said, he can’t explain this step to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un but the United States continue to condemn the North’s Nuclear programs.
“I certainly wouldn’t try to speak for him or explain his actions.”
“But I would say, as we have said before, that we would continue to condemn the missile launches that they have tested in recent weeks. We continue to condemn their pursuit of a nuclear weapon and would hope that they would engage in talks, which they have shown, so far, no inclination to do,” Matthew Miller added.
According to John Kirby, National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications, North Korea seems to be open to providing Russia military support, such as bullets used in Russias War with Ukraine.
