IN a report received by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) via the Incident Management Team, at around 11:20 AM today, parajumpers were already at the crash site in Isabela, however, with limited communication signal.
Unfortunately, the pilot of RP-C1234 was confirmed dead and the other passenger is still missing as of this time. Rescuing teams found signs that the passenger was able to camp out.
By tomorrow, December 8, the rescuers will bring the pilot’s remains to a helicopter landing zone, hosted aboard, and then flown to the TOG2 in Cauayan City.
Teams of K9 trackers are now being fetched from their locations to be brought to TOG2. They will be flown and dropped near the wreckage. Starting at the site of the wreckage, the K9 trackers will then follow the path that the passenger took through the scent that she left on the vegetation that she passed by.
Further, all key personnel of Cauayan Airport under CAAP Area 2 Manager Mary Sulyn Sagorsor will continue the needed response to the ongoing SAR operations. Airport and tower operations will extend and open early as required.
AAIIB personnel gave their reminders to the teams who will reach the crash site to not affect the initial investigation. They also oriented the procedures to be taken from all applicable scenarios.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with scattered showers or thunderstorms are expected in mainland Cagayan, Isabela due to easterlies / local thunderstorms.
Fliteline Airways will use their aircraft tomorrow, December 8, to pick up the Rescue team at Palanan Airport and take them to Cauayan Airport. Then they will be transported via PAF helicopter to the established area near the crash site.
