AMPHIBIOUS assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5), and Harpers Ferry-class amphibious dock landing ship USS Carter Hall (LSD 50) landed in Piraeus, Greece earlier this week as part of the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit.
The military vessels arrived in Greece for a regular scheduled port visit after supporting the U.S. 5th Fleet operations in Bahrain since early August.
Most sailors taking part in the port visit were able to tour the cities of Piraeus and Athens for the first time.
The US troops also participated in Exercise “Odyssey Encore” alongside Greek forces.
The US Navy visited Greece on the same day that the Iranian Navy seized Marshall-Islands flagged oil tanker St. Nikolas on Thursday.
