THE long pathway which is popularly known as The Mall will be the area where King Charles III will be parading until he reaches Buckingham Palace.
And days before the coronation, a lot of people have already camped by the side to make sure they get their best view.
The Mall is a one-kilometer road connecting Trafalgar Square to Buckingham Palace which royal members usually use as their route when parading for big events such as Royal Weddings like when King Charles was still a prince marrying Princess Diana, Prince William & Kate, Prince Harry & Megan and during Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.
Besides the colorful decorations that can be seen everywhere, many royal fans have started making their own tents and even camped beside the mall.
They shared their different expectations and their own reasons why they decided to set up camp days before the occasion and these are what they have to say:
“You meet different people, different cultures, everything all goes together, isn’t it? I’m a royalist and I wanted to get here to make sure that I could see because if you leave it til saturday, you’re not gonna get anywhere near it,” said Neil Embly.
“So basically, it’s like British Pageantry. It’s what we do. It is what British People do,” said Jenny (British Granny).
Many others traveled all the way from abroad like these American Ladies to get a personal experience of this historical event.
“The flight was about 9 and a half hours and we came for William and Kate’s Wedding, the Royal Wedding in 2011 so we know that you could do this. As soon as they announced the coronation, we knew it would be along here to Westminster and we just wanted to be a part of History,” said Denise Callaghary and I’m Mary Depley from Houston Texas.
“We didn’t want to be in the back. We came all this way to be in the front. It’s a wonderful time. You know the London people are beautiful and kind and it’s just exciting to be a part of the special event. We don’t have anything like this in America. So it’s fun to come and celebrate,” they said.
Others showed their support by being creative in their outfits for the occasion.
“This is my sister-in-law Mandy. She’s made her own dress. Originally she got the Queen on a dress and she’s now put the King on with four tea towels,” said British grannies from Staffordshire.
“The Queen was Queen for so long. That’s all most of us ever knew. So now, we’ve got a new King and I’m sure he’s going to make subtle changes and we’ve got to give him a chance and I’m sure he’ll be a brilliant King. But we’ve got to go through that mourning process really because you know we’ve lost our queen and tomorrow, on saturday, we can support Charles and get behind them, enjoy and be part of history,” they said.
And finally, the Royal fans expressed their warm messages to the King of the United Kingdom.
“Congratulations to him and Camilla. Congratulations and long live the King. You’ll do a great job,’’ said Denise & Mary.
This historical event will indeed be remembered for many more years to come and the experiences of those who attended will absolutely be treasured and definitely shared with the next generation.
