VICE President Sara Duterte expressed her condolences for the victims affected by the collapse of large portion of land in Maco, Davao de Oro that occurred last Wednesday, February 7. The incident follows her recent visit to the site of another landslide tragedy in Mt. Diwata, Davao de Oro.
Taking swift action in response to the recent disaster, Vice President Duterte also visited evacuees and those affected by the collapse on Thursday, February 8, at Nuevo Iloco Elementary School in the town of Mawab. The school, serving as one of the area’s evacuation centers, currently accommodates those temporarily displaced by the incident.
In collaboration with local officials, Vice President Duterte engaged with the affected individuals, ensuring that her office stands as their partner in addressing their immediate needs. Discussions focused on providing necessary support to those impacted by the demolition.
Highlighting the significance of preparedness and proactive measures, the Vice President emphasized the importance of pre-emptive evacuation in identified hazard-prone areas to avert further tragedies. The overarching priority remains the safety and well-being of the affected population.
Vice President Duterte concluded her statement by expressing prayers for the prevention of such disasters in the future and called upon the citizens to remain strong in promoting the welfare of the youth and young countrymen.
