Water cannon incident in South China Sea possibly staged—analyst

PROFESSOR Anna Malindog-Uy, a geopolitical analyst, does not dismiss the possibility that the recent water cannon incident in the South China Sea is being sensationalized to overshadow the Senate investigation on the PDEA leaks.

However, according to Malindog-Uy, despite this development, the issue of the PDEA leaks, which involves the name of the current Philippine president, continues to be a hot topic on social media.

“That could be a coincidence, or it could be staged. Those are two possibilities because the timing is quite suspicious.”

“The timing makes you think, why is it like that? If it’s a coincidence, okay, fine. But if not, what is the purpose? Is it to cover up the issue of the PDEA leaks involving our President, Bongbong Marcos? Maybe some people perceive it that way. But the question is, did it really cover up the PDEA leaks? Actually, to be very frank, when I look at social media, there are discussions about the water cannon, but what’s really prominent is the PDEA leaks. That’s what people are talking about now,” according to Prof. Anna Malindog-Uy, Geopolitical Analyst.

Moreover, Malindog-Uy said that Filipinos abroad are also awaiting the real answers to this issue because they felt that they were lacking in the recent Senate hearing.

“I think people, even those in other countries, are there waiting for the next hearing to see what really happened because they also felt like they were lacking in knowing what really happened. There are a lot of things to be asked, and there are a lot of things you need to emphasize with questions that Senator Bato didn’t do,” she added.

As one of those who want to know the truth, she hopes that Senator Bato will be more prepared for the next Senate hearing on the PDEA leaks scheduled for May 7.

“Which is, perhaps, in the next hearing, I feel like Senator Bato will prepare the right questions for the hearing because it’s good to prepare the right questions. Even I am looking forward to the next hearing. You can see that there–from that gap, you can see that it’s not AI-generated because if it were AI-generated, it wouldn’t have that,” she stated.
