We, Filipinos, deserve better—VP Sara Duterte

We, Filipinos, deserve better.

So, I am using my position, resources and platform, to be the voice for my fellow Filipinos who are left unheard.

I experienced flooding twice in the house of my parents in Taal St., Davao City. Our tools are broken and the environment is full of holes — he is not amused. I also experienced walking in chest length flood water and just swimming completely — he was not happy. I experienced being mayor and 30 people died from a flash flood — to this day it still hurts my feelings.

So l am using my position, resources and platform to be the voice to show our government officials HOW TO COMMAND.

I am using my position, resources and platform just as I did in the past — when I was just mayor, I told NEDA XI that there is a need for study for flood control and drainage for Davao City. This is like the City Engineer’s Office (CEO) and DPWH are following the plan and they will not invent the project anymore.

That’s why the PRRD administration did something about flood planning. The Master Plan and Feasibility Study for Flood Control was started in September 2016 and published in July 2023.

Maybe they want to fund infrastructure projects that are in accordance with the masterplan? Or maybe there is still doubt about this because Duterte is the mayor and they are more entitled to just gibain?

Leadership is faithfulness to the oath of office. Leadership is faithful service to the people.

Leaders should only say one thing — that “it is done”.

Leaders should not be motivated by cash, cocaine or champagne.

And, most certainly, leaders should not be made to hold champagne glasses.

Again — We, Filipinos, deserve better.

We, Filipinos, should be the best.

Shoutout to JICA and the Japanese Government who helped Davao City. You are the best.

Thank you.

SARA Z. DUTERTE

Vice President of the Philippines
