PDEA leaks: Ex-agent Jonathan Morales refuses to reveal confidential informant’s identity

FORMER PDEA agent Jonathan Morales remains firm in his decision not to disclose the identity or gender of the confidential informant linking PBBM, actress Maricel Soriano, and others in illegal drugs.

“I will not disclose the actual identification of this person,” Jonathan Morales, Former PDEA Agent, stated.

Former Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency or PDEA agent Jonathan Morales insists that he will not reveal the identity or any identifying information of the confidential informant involved in linking President Bongbong Marcos, actress Maricel Soriano, and several others in alleged drug-related activities dating back to 2012.

This decision is based on a pre-operation report signed by Morales himself.

During the second hearing of the Senate Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs regarding the PDEA leaks, Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa and Jinggoy Estrada repeatedly pressed Morales to reveal details about the confidential informant.

“You just hesitant to break your code of honor, your relationship between you and the confidential informant. You really could not recall—because your reputation is at stake here. Your reputation as a resource person is at stake if you can’t remember it,’’ Senator Ronald ‘’Bato’’ dela Rosa, Chairperson, Senate Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs, said.

‘‘What is it? Is it a he or she? Male or Female?’’, Senator Jinggoy Estrada, Vice Chairperson, Senate Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs, asked.

Morales emphasized his certainty that the informant’s life would be endangered if he disclosed their gender.

“Your honor, this is difficult because if I disclose the gender of the confidential informant. Your honor, their life will be in danger, they will be immediately identified,” Morales insisted.

Despite this, Morales expressed willingness to disclose the informant’s gender under certain conditions that do not violate the individual’s constitutional rights.

“If you allow me to reveal the gender of the confidential informant without violating their constitutional rights. I will provide it,” Morales added.

Morales repeatedly stated that he no longer remembers the name of the confidential informant involved in the PDEA leaks.
