Seventeen Thai nationals released by Hamas arrive in Bangkok

THE first batch of Thai hostages freed by Hamas finally returned home more than a month after they were taken captive by the Palestinian militant group.

Scenes turned emotional as Thai hostages were warmly welcomed by their loved ones as they arrived in Bangkok on Thursday afternoon.

The seventeen Thai nationals were the first batch of hostages released by Hamas.

Two more were set free on Tuesday and another four on Wednesday, bringing the total number of released workers to 23.

They were able to finally taste freedom after seven weeks of captivity and a series of negotiations.

Nine Thais remain in captivity while the Foreign Ministry confirmed there were no conditions for the release of the 23 hostages.
