UAE welcomes Indian FM for bilateral visit

INDIA’S Minister of External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar visited the UAE – one of the country’s closest partners in West Asia.

The Indian diplomat met his counterpart Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan to discuss a wide range of issues under their bilateral partnership and explore new areas of cooperation.

S Jaishankar visited the first Hindu temple in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi which was inaugurated in February 2024 and participated in the 10th International Yoga Day celebrations before meeting his Emirati counterpart.

India and the UAE elevated their bilateral relations in 2015 and signed a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in February 2022.

The Gulf nation typically imports precious metals, jewellery, minerals, refined petroleum products, and food from India.

The UAE is home to about 3.3 million Indian nationals while two-way trade between the two countries is expected to increase to $100 billion within five years.
