Thousands forced to evacuate their homes in Alberta

THOUSANDS of people are currently under evacuation orders in Alberta, British Columbia as multiple fires ravage the western part of Canada.

Among the worst-hit areas include Drayton Valley which has a population of around 7,000 people. On Thursday night, all were forced to evacuate their homes.

In Little Red River Cree Nation, the 1,458-hectare fox lake fire consumed 20 homes as well as a police station.

And on Friday, a total of 78 fires were recorded in the region and more than 13,000 people were forced to flee their homes.

Just when wildfires aren’t bad enough, rivers had also burst their banks in British Columbia due to the sudden onset of unseasonably high temperatures which has caused snow to rapidly melt.

To note, the flooding is expected to worsen over the weekend with heavy rain forecast across the south of the province.
