Classes in all Davao City schools suspended due to heavy rains

FOLLOWING the issuance of PAG-ASA (Mindanao PRSD) Advisory at 11:10 am, Thursday, and due to inclement weather being experienced in Davao City and nearby provinces, ALL CLASSES in ALL LEVELS in all public and private educational institutions in Davao City are hereby suspended effective 12:00 noon today, January 18, 2024.

DECLARING THE SUSPENSION OF CLASSES IN ALL LEVELS OF PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SCHOOLS IN DAVAO CITY EFFECTIVE 12:00 NOON ON THURSDAY, JANUARY 18, 2024 DUE TO HEAVY RAINS BROUGHT ABOUT BY THE SHEAR LINE WEATHER SYSTEM
WHEREAS, at 11:10 AM of January 18, 2024, the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (DOST-PAGASA) Mindanao Regional Services Division (MPRSD) issued Heavy Rainfall Warning Number 2 due to the shear line continuing to affect the region at the Yellow Warning Level, with possible flooding in low-lying areas and landslides in mountainous areas;
WHEREAS, the same advisory indicates that moderate to occasionally heavy rains (4.5-7.5 with occasionally 7.5-15 liters/meter^2 per hour) being experienced in identified areas in Mindanao, including Davao City;
WHEREAS, the City Government of Davao is duty-bound to safeguard the welfare of the public and undertake measures to avert any untoward incidents or disasters that may be caused by the effects of said weather occurrence;
NOW THEREFORE, I, SEBASTIAN Z. DUTERTE, Mayor of the City of Davao, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the suspension of classes and school activities in ALL LEVELS in all public and private educational institutions in Davao City effective 12:00 Noon on Thursday, January 18, 2024:
