Davao City to open more green spaces, parks

THE City Government of Davao, through the City Environment and Natural Resource Office (CENRO), has opened 27 parks, playgrounds, and green spaces projects and is looking to open two more this year.

Establishing green spaces in the city’s densely populated areas will provide the public with the space to decompress from the day-to-day pressures of urban life. The local government recognizes public parks and green spaces as means to promote physical and mental well-being of Dabawenyos.

Last year, the local government opened to the public the Los Amigos Park and the Doña Vicenta Park.

It also opened two parks along the Davao City Coastal Road: the Bago Esplanade and the Gulf View Esplanade.

Several pocket parks have also been opened all over the city. These include the Candelaria Park in Quimpo Boulevard, the Matina Linear Park along the McArthur Highway, and the Communal Pocket Park in Mutual Homes, Barangay Communal.

The city has also renovated the Toril Park in Agton St., Toril.

CENRO Head Engr. Marivic Reyes bared that the Toril Park as well as the Roxas Greenway Park will be launched this year.
