DOST-PTRI collaborates again with RCAS

WITH the recent recommendation of the MECO-TECO Joint Research Project Proposal for a full-blown submission, the team headed by Dr. Mu-Huai Fang of Research Center for Applied Sciences (RCAS), Academia Sinica, Taiwan, visited the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) for a proposal writeshop event.

The said Joint Research Project Proposal entitled “BIO-SENSE: Biocompatible Innovations with Smart Eco-friendly Nanomaterials for Sustainable textile Endeavors” aims to promote cooperation between the Philippines and Taiwan in Science and Technology and has been recommended for full-blown proposal submission.

The engagement involves a facility visit with PTRI’s partner communities in Aklan, particularly the Raquels Piña Cloth and the Aklanon Piña Fiber Producers’ Association (APFIPA), aiming towards the valorization of pineapple fibers in the development of sustainable nanomaterials for smart textile applications.
