DPWH Nueva Ecija 1st DEO Paves 1.11 Lane-KM Road in Brgy. Macabucod, Aliaga

FARMING in Barangay Macabucod, Aliaga town, has taken a significant leap forward with the recent completion of a road concreting project implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Nueva Ecija 1st District Engineering Office (DEO).

According to District Engineer Osias Santos, the P4.85-million project, which includes paving a 1.11-lane-kilometer section of a local road, will now enable residents, motorists, entrepreneurs, and an estimated 200 to 500 road commuters to access more convenient modes of transportation in the area.

“Additionally, it will greatly improve the delivery of goods and services for our local farmers, creating more livelihood opportunities,” Santos emphasized.

He also added that the concreted road will address difficulties previously faced by the community, including slippery, muddy conditions during the rainy season and excessive dust affecting health and livestock during the dry season.

Meanwhile, June Agustin, a local farmer in Barangay Macabucod, shared that prior to the road construction, transporting rice and other crops during harvest season was particularly challenging.

“Malaki ang hirap namin noon kasi wala pang kalsada. Marami kaming patabang hinahakot, sinusunong lang namin. ‘Pag nagpataba kami, hahakutin muna namin ng isang araw bago ipataba kinabukasan,” Agustin said.

With funds from the 2024 national budget, this project underscores the department’s commitment to providing critical infrastructure support to agricultural communities.#(DPWH NUEVA ECIJA 1ST DPAIU)
