Ecuadorian crime boss’ body vanishes from cemetery

THE body of a notorious gang leader, Junior Roldán, has mysteriously disappeared from a cemetery in Colombia, according to the police.

Junior Roldán, a prominent member of the Los Choneros Gang, had fled to Colombia to escape threats on his life in his native Ecuador.

In May, he was discovered dead with bullet wounds to the head in a wooded area.

The police believe that Roldán may have been killed by his own bodyguard, who possibly aimed to steal a significant amount of money that Roldán had carried with him into hiding.

However, no arrests have been made in connection with his murder.

Roldán was identified by his tattoos and was laid to rest in a wall vault at the central cemetery near Medellín on May 18.

Recently, cemetery workers found an open gate and an empty vault, which was later confirmed to contain Roldán’s body.

Authorities suspect that a group of men broke into the cemetery overnight and removed the body.

It remains unclear whether the culprits specifically targeted Roldán’s remains and what their motive might have been.

Roldán had many enemies, including rival gang members from Los Lobos, who had previously shot and injured him.

He had also survived an attack involving explosive-laden drones during his time in prison.

In recent years, Los Choneros had established ties with Mexico’s Sinaloa cartel, further enhancing their power.
