Lawmaker says ICC must be declared ‘persona non grata’ to the Philippines

ON Monday, a lawmaker strongly criticized the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) intervention in the war on drugs during the Duterte administration.

Congressman Dan Fernandez, chairman of the House Committee on Public Order and Safety, candidly expressed his frustration regarding the ICC ongoing investigation into the previous administration’s war on drugs campaign.

Fernandez emphasized the ICC no longer holds jurisdiction in the country.

Previously, President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. has previously addressed the ICC, stressing that the international body’s actions pose a threat to the country’s sovereignty.

Also, the Chief Executive recently said that the country is done with the ICC.

To this, Congressman Fernandez reacted, and said, “Those who come to the ICC should be declared persona non grata. We should really declare them persona non grata.”
