MULA Japan ay tumungo sa Pilipinas ang TCG Kinaliada na isang Turkish Navy Ship na dumaong sa Pier 15 sa Maynila kamakailan.
Mainit na tinanggap ng mga tauhan ng TCG Kınalıada sa pangunguna ni Commander Serkan Doğan ang ilang opisyal ng Embassy of Turkiye, Philippine Navy, at Philippine Army sa isang cocktail reception.
Kasabay ng pagbisita ng naturang warship ay ang selebrasyon ng 75th anniversary ng diplomatic relations ng Turkiye at Pilipinas.
Ayon kay Navy spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea Rear Admiral Roy Vincent Trinidad, ang pagbisita ng Turkish ship ay simbolo ng matatag na relasyon ng dalawang bansa.
“We are grateful for this opportunity to celebrate the significant ties between the Philippine Navy and the Turkish Navy, as well as the strengthening bond between our nations that goes back to our established diplomatic relations in 1949,” ayon kay Rear Admiral Roy Vincent Trinidad, Navy spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea.
Sa kaniyang mensahe, kinilala ni Trinidad ang pagtutulungan ng dalawang bansa sa defense sector sa mga nagdaang taon.
“The “Memorandum of Understanding on Defense Industry Cooperation” signed in December 2018 and the subsequent “Implementing Agreement” in February 2019 have paved the way for significant advancements, especially in enhancing our defense capabilities and fostering stronger military cooperation,” ani Trinidad.
Kaugnay nito, sinabi ni Trinidad na ang bagong corvette ng PH Navy na BRP Miguel Malvar ay may kagamitan ding Gökdeniz close-in weapon system na nilikha ng isang Turkish defense company na Aselsan.
Maliban sa defense, kinilala rin ng opisyal ang suporta ng Türkiye para sa peace process sa Mindanao.
Dagdag pa rito ay ang mga kontribusyon ng Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) na nagbibigay ng socio-economic development assistance sa bansa mula pa noong 2015.
“With these achievements, we celebrate our strong and growing partnership and the promising future ahead of us. We hope to continue building bridges for mutual understanding between our people and navigating towards our shared goals of security, peace, and prosperity,” saad ni Trinidad.

Ibinahagi naman ni Turkish Ambassador to the Philippines Niyazi Evren Akyol ang patuloy na umuusbong na people-to-people connection ng dalawang bansa.
Aniya, tumaas ang bilang ng mga Pilipinong bumibisita sa Turkiye sa mga nagdaang taon na mula higit 23,000 na mga Pinoy noong 2007, nasa higit 120,000 na ito ngayong 2023.
Dumarami rin, aniya, ang mga turista mula Turkiye dito sa bansa.
“Turkish Airlines now conducts daily direct flights to the Philippines, facilitating closer people-to-people contacts. As a result, the number of Turkish tourists visiting the Philippines is also growing rapidly, further enhancing our bilateral relations,” ayon kay H.E. Niyazi Evren Akyol, Turkish Ambassador to the Philippines.

Inihayag din ni Akyol ang kahandaan ng Turkiye para patatagin pa ang relasyon nito sa Pilipinas pagdating sa infrastructure development, transportation, energy, at defense industry.
“We are closely monitoring the Philippines efforts to establish a self-reliant defense infrastructure, and Turkish companies are well positioned to contribute to this endeavor,” saad ni H.E. Niyazi Evren Akyol.
Umaasa rin aniya ang kanilang bansa na mas makatutulong pa sa pagpapalakas ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
Matatandaang bumili ang Pilipinas ng T-129 ATAK helicopters at iba pang defense equipment mula sa Turkiye.
