THE Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) welcomed the Secretary of the Department of Transportation – Philippines, Sec. Vivencio Dizon, who led the Turnover Ceremony of the Barangay Tigtabon Community Port at Tigtabon Island, Zamboanga City on 22 March 2025.
Upon his arrival at Zamboanga International Airport, Secretary Dizon and his delegation were welcomed by the General Manager of the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), Mr. Jay Santiago; Port Manager, Mr. Arcidi S Jumaani; Commander, Coast Guard District Southwestern Mindanao, Commodore Marco Antonio Gines PCG; other officials from the DOTr; as well as representatives of PPA, and Land Transportation Office.
Presided over by the House Majority Leader and Representative of the 2nd District of Zamboanga City, Representative Manuel Jose “Mannix” Dalipe, this ceremony marked a significant milestone for Tigtabon Island in enhancing connectivity and driving economic growth through efficient transport of goods and services.
According to CGDSWM, they will ensure the port’s safety while strengthening disaster preparedness and environmental monitoring, making it a secure and reliable gateway for the community’s sustainable development.
Mayor John Dalipe of Zamboanga City and other local officials were also present during the ceremony.
