PH Navy engages in Bilateral Meetings with Brunei and Canada at MNEK 2025

CONTINUING its commitment to regional maritime cooperation, the Philippine Navy engaged in bilateral meetings with the Royal Brunei Navy and the Royal Canadian Navy on February 17, 2025, at Westin Hotel, Bali, Indonesia as part of the 5th Multilateral Naval Exercise Komodo (MNEK) 2025.

In a meeting with the Royal Brunei Navy, the Philippine delegation, led by Rear Admiral Joe Anthony C Orbe PN, Commander, Philippine Fleet and Head of Delegation, met with Captain Sahibul Bahari Bin Zainal Abidin, Chief of the Royal Brunei Navy to discuss key areas of cooperation, including joint naval exercises, capacity-building initiatives, and shared security challenges in the Indo-Pacific region.

The engagement reaffirmed the long-standing maritime partnership between the two nations.

Later that day, the Philippine Navy also met with the Royal Canadian Navy, represented by Commodore Jason Armstrong, Director of Force Development of the Royal Canadian Navy.

Discussions focused on enhancing interoperability, disaster response coordination, and future opportunities for naval cooperation in the region.

These bilateral engagements highlight the Philippine Navy’s proactive approach in strengthening defense partnerships and ensuring a stable and secure maritime environment.
