THE Philippine Navy welcomed Vice Admiral Andrea Gueglio, Director for Personnel Employment, Italian Navy, and His Excellency Davide Giglio, Italian Ambassador to the Philippines, as they paid a courtesy call to Vice Admiral Jose Ma Ambrosio Q Ezpeleta PN, Flag Officer in Command, Philippine Navy on March 17, 2025, at the Navy Headquarters in Manila.

The meeting highlighted the shared commitment of both navies to enhancing defense cooperation, particularly in shipbuilding, modernization, joint exercises, and strategic dialogues.

“We’re looking forward to having my team visit your ships and learn more about the new technology offered by the Italian Navy,” Vice Admiral Ezpeleta stated.

The visit provided an opportunity for the Philippine Navy to gain insights into Italy’s naval capabilities and explore potential partnerships that could support the PN’s modernization efforts.

Strengthening ties with the Italian Navy aligns with the PN’s goal of enhancing interoperability, technological advancement, and regional security cooperation.
