PNP SAF and CIDG raid multiple KJC Compounds in Davao Region without search warrant

ON June 10, 2024, between 3 AM and 6 AM, battalions of heavily armed PNP SAF operatives and CIDG attempted to forcefully enter and besiege multiple KJC compounds home to more than a thousand missionaries in Davao City, Samal Island, and Sarangani. The targeted locations included the main compound beside Davao International Airport, the Prayer Mountain in Tamayong, the Glory Mountain in Purok 6, the QSands Baptismal Resort in the Island Garden City of Samal, and the Kitbog Compound in Malungon, Sarangani.

Cooler heads prevailed as KJC members allowed searches of all their compounds, despite the authorities only having arrest warrants. At Glory Mountain, the gate was destroyed, two Indigenous missionaries belonging to the B’laan Tribe were tied up, and kicked by authorities for possessing knives used for farming. No search warrants were presented.
