Turkiye’s first astronaut takes off for ISS mission

TURKISH Air Force Colonel Alper Gezeravci, along with three other European crew members blasted off to the International Space Station (ISS) aboard the SpaceX Crew Dragon Capsule earlier this week.

Their capsule left Cape Canaveral Space Center in Florida on Thursday and is expected to reach the space station on Saturday.

The mission made Gezeravci the first Turkish national to make it into outer space.

It costs around $55-M or more for each astronaut to be deployed to the ISS.

The Turkish astronaut will spend two weeks performing experiments aboard the space station together with his two other colleagues from Sweden and Italy before they return to Earth.
