U.S. not to aid Israel in counterattack vs Iran

IN a recent phone call, U.S.  President Joe Biden told Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu it would not support the Jewish state on any counterattack against Iran.

Biden made the call to Netanyahu on the same day Iran attacked Israel with hundreds of missiles and drones.

The American president and his senior advisers are concerned a counterattack would lead to a regional war, according to U.S. officials.

The United States also played a role in persuading Arab states to share intelligence on Iran’s plans before it launched a massive attack against Israel, although Arab states initially hesitated, according to the Washington Street Journal.

The United States declared its “ironclad” commitment to Israel after Iran launched the attack on Saturday. However, it refused the idea of helping Israel launch a retaliatory attack against Iran to avert regional war.

Israel’s war cabinet met for the second time on Monday to discuss its response to the Iranian attack.

Iran on the other hand warned it will strike again with greater force if Israel or the U.S. will retaliate.

World leaders also called for restraint and expressed deep concern about the possibility of a broader regional conflict.
