UNDERSCORING the pivotal role of financial institutions in accelerating electrification, Undersecretary Rowena Cristina L. Guevara emphasized the need to mobilize private sector investments to bring sustainable energy solutions to unserved and underserved communities.
Speaking at the UK-Japan-Philippines Microgrids Workshop hosted by the British Embassy in Manila last 18 March 2025, she highlighted that a well-coordinated approach between government and private stakeholders is essential in making clean energy accessible to the most remote areas of the Philippines.
The workshop fostered positive collaborations among experts from the UK, Japan, and the Philippines, focusing on regulatory frameworks, green finance, and smart technologies for micro and off-grid systems.
These discussions align with the Philippines’ ongoing push for a clean energy transition, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and grid resilience.
Further enriching the dialogue, Energy Regulatory Commission Chairperson Atty. Monalisa Dimalanta, National Transmission Corporation President Engr. Fortunato Leynes, and Green Grids Initiative representative Mr. Marcus Stewart joined Undersecretary Guevara in a panel discussion on “Grid Regulations.”
Moderated by Mr. Rob Cooke of the UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, the session tackled policy alignment, regulatory advancements, and investment strategies critical to strengthening the country’s energy infrastructure.
Through these dynamic exchanges and global partnerships, the workshop reaffirmed the vital role of international cooperation in fostering a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable energy future for the Philippines. By leveraging expertise, innovative technologies, and financial support, the country moves closer to achieving universal and equitable energy access.
