World’s most expensive license plate sold in Dubai

THE most expensive license plate in the history of Guinness world records has been sold in the “City of Gold” for a staggering amount of 55 million dirhams.

To many people, spending millions for a single car plate sounds unbelievable or even impractical as such an amount is more than enough to make any person or a family comfortable and super wealthy for the rest of their lives.

But unknown to many, the record-breaking sale that happened recently at a charity auction in Dubai is part of a bigger cause.

Behind the show of glamor lurks a regional campaign that aims to feed millions of hungry people from several countries across the globe.

Over the weekend, Dubai turned heads after a two-character car license plate sold for an eye-watering Dh55 million, or equivalent to $15 million at the “Most Noble Numbers” charity auction.

In just one night, plate number P7 earned the title of the most expensive license plate in the world.

100% of the revenues from the auction will be donated to the “1 Billion Meals Endowment” program – the biggest humanitarian initiative of its kind in the region.

The global food initiative was founded by the ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to fight global food hunger and help vulnerable communities in around 50 countries worldwide during the holy month of Ramadan.

Millions of meals have been distributed to dozens of countries since the initiative started a few weeks ago.
