Yemen’s Houthi rebels launch ‘Palestine’ missile

THE Houthis showed off their military might in the wake of the ongoing tensions in Gaza, with the crisis reverberating in the Red Sea and the rest of the region.

The rebels fired a ballistic missile from their arsenal named Palestine.

The missile was fired at the southern Gulf of Aqaba port of Eilat in Israel earlier this week.

Solid-fuel missiles like Palestine can be set up and fired faster than those containing liquid fuel.

The Houthis escalated their attacks in the Red Sea since the Israel-Hamas war erupted in October of last year.

The rebels vowed to target vessels routed or linked to Israel. The attacks are an expression of support for the Palestinians in Gaza.

The United States has repeatedly accused Iran of supporting the Houthis with weapons given that Yemen is one of the poorest countries in the Arab world.
