120,000 rally in North Korean capital against the United States

OVER the weekend, mass rallies against the United States took place in the capital of North Korea as the country marked the 73rd anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean War.

The said demonstrations took place in Pyongyang on Sunday but were reported by North Korea’s State Media Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Monday.

According to KCNA, around 120,000 people from the working class and students took part in the rallies.

Photos published by the state media showed protesters holding up placards that read ‘the whole U.S. mainland is within our shooting range’ and that ‘the imperialist U.S. is the destroyer of peace’.

It can be noted that the Korean War was fought between North Korea and South Korea from 1950 to 1953 and the fighting ended with an armistice on the 27th of July 1953.

But though the Korean War ended almost 70 years ago, the conflict between the countries in the Korean peninsula still exists.
