EIGHTEEN of our fellow Filipinos from Lebanon will be spending Christmas in the Philippines this year.
They were caught in the crossfire of the current conflict in the Middle East between Israel and the militant group Hezbollah.
These repatriated Filipinos constitute the 17th batch to return to the Philippines from Lebanon.
The Department of Foreign Affairs raised Lebanon’s alert level to 3 back in October, coinciding with the call for voluntary participation in repatriation from our fellow countrymen.
The government ensured assistance for returning Filipinos, including support from TESDA, the Department of Migrant Workers, OWWA, and DSWD.
“We provide cash assistance and food assistance worth P20,000, and our agency’s support for the repatriates does not stop there,” Allan Sanchez of DSWD said.
Vicky, a 51-year-old household worker, is among those who have returned to the country.
She worked in Lebanon for eight months, enduring the conflict there.
According to her, life in Lebanon was challenging due to the war, so they are grateful to the government for the assistance in returning home.
They also expressed their gratitude to President Bongbong Marcos.
“Thank you very much for assisting us properly, and taking good care of us in Lebanon. To the people who helped us there to return to our country, thank you,” Vicky Son, Repatriated OFW from Lebanon also said.
