2025 National Women’s Month Message of Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco

As we celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8, we honor the invaluable contributions of Filipino women across all sectors and reaffirm our unwavering commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment.

This year’s National Women’s Month theme in the Philippines, “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas,” underscores the vital role of women in shaping a more progressive, inclusive, and resilient society.

This celebration reaffirms the Philippines’ long-standing dedication to advancing women’s rights and fostering inclusive development.

In the tourism sector, women stand as trailblazers, innovators, and custodians of our heritage—whether as entrepreneurs, cultural practitioners, tourism frontliners, or industry leaders.

At the Department of Tourism (DOT), we remain steadfast in our commitment to ensuring that women in tourism are empowered, recognized, and given equal opportunities to excel.

Through our campaign, “Love the Philippines,” we celebrate not only our country’s breathtaking destinations but also the remarkable Filipinas who continuously shape our tourism industry. As of February 2025 there are 86,572 women, equivalent to 45.88% of the total workforce, directly working in DOT accredited tourism enterprises in the country.

As we celebrate this important occasion, let us continue to uplift the Filipina—her strength, her resilience, and her unwavering spirit. Let us work together to build a Philippines where every woman, in every sector, can rise and thrive.
